Role Overview

The Video Engineer is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting a wide range of video, audio, and broadcast equipment. This role includes wiring and terminating racks, configuring signal flow, and ensuring the reliable performance of video systems for live events and permanent installations. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to adapt quickly in dynamic production environments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and execute video and AV systems for live events and permanent installations.
  • Prep, load, set up, operate, troubleshoot, tear down, QC, and return equipment for production jobs.
  • Assist in the design, documentation, wiring, installation, testing, and commissioning of integration projects.
  • Maintain an up-to-date calendar of assigned events and projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering, project managers, sales, logistics, and fellow technicians to ensure successful event execution.
  • Operate a variety of AV and broadcast equipment, including robotic cameras, switchers, video routers, and monitors across various manufacturers.
  • Follow through on assigned jobs from planning to final completion, including documentation and post-show support.
  • Work with the head of engineering to schedule and perform regular maintenance and quality control of equipment in the shop.
  • Support the integration team with system design, wiring, rack fabrication, QC, and final commissioning of projects.
  • Assist in general warehouse operations, including equipment prep, inventory organization, and logistics support.
  • Must be available to work flexible, non-standard hours including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to travel for projects, including overnight and multi-day stays as required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the audio-visual production or integration industry.
  • Basic understanding of networking principles, including IP addressing, VLANs, and device configuration.
  • Familiarity with Vectorworks or similar CAD/drafting software is a plus.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills for project tracking and system records.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work seamlessly with sales teams, project managers, technicians, and senior leadership.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to manage time and priorities independently.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and a team-oriented mindset, with a focus on coordination and execution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.), and general data entry.
  • General knowledge of OSHA safety standards and practices is a plus.
