Responsible for loading and unloading product to and from trailers when qualified and as needed in accordance with Preferred Work Methods (PWMs). Both functions require specific equipment and/or process certification. Requires working in freezer, cooler and dry warehouse environments with extreme cold and/or warm temperatures. Performs all duties safely, accurately and meets set productivity standards and goals. Essential duties include inspecting trailers for cleanliness, unloading inbound foodservice product, supplies or equipment from trailers or shipping containers onto the dock for receipt utilizing material handling equipment following established PWMs to avoid damage to equipment or product, and according to specified configurations for storage and shipment. Reconfiguring inbound pallets to meet RDC storage requirements, inspecting product for shortages, damages, quality issues, or deterioration of packing and reporting to supervisor. Verifying refrigerated and frozen product temperatures and following temperature abuse process if product temperature is out of accepted tolerance range. Controlling door lights to inform driver if they are clear to position trailer to the door or pull trailer from the door. Applying shrink wrap to pallets to ensure they are secured for effective delivery. Must successfully complete forklift certification process and testing. Loading duties include inspecting and cleaning trailers prior to loading, loading product onto trucks according to truck mapping and special instructions, hand loading product as required, and controlling door lights. All functions require working effectively with supervisor to minimize warehouse shrink/damage, maintaining neatness and cleanliness of work areas, reporting unsafe issues, observing and enforcing safety rules, operating material handling equipment safely, observing proper lifting techniques, maintaining equipment, using warehouse computers and RF equipment properly, complying with company policies and applicable laws, supporting food safety policies, and performing other warehouse duties as assigned. Qualifications include being at least 18 years old, passing a functional capacity test, working effectively in a team, communicating effectively, and having relevant education and experience. Physical requirements include frequent lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, and working in environments with extreme temperatures and noise. Work hours are full-time with varying schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays. No travel is required.
