Thermo King is hiring a Control Systems Engineering Manager to join our team as a leader of Controls Engineering Professionals! This team is responsible for overseeing design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the Control systems through the entire product lifecycle and is a key interface to global product line Engineering teams. Leveraging extensive product knowledge, the Control Systems team maximizes product value through design of the user experience and leading development of Controls specifications and feature/function definitions with a key focus on modularity and reusability. The team is also responsible for Controls work prioritization while effectively managing multiple concurrent programs to meet Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets for global refrigeration and mobile HVAC applications. The team uses agile development processes to manage their work. Control systems developed by this team will play a key role in driving progress in sustainability of our products and to help meet our company’s goals.

A successful candidate will be responsible for driving technology, architectural and other improvements in our product roadmap and development processes that will impact the broader organization. Additionally, the Control Systems Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing the team including recruiting new talent, mentoring team members, promoting their careers, as well as directly contributing to Control systems development alongside their team members.

Where is the work: 

\n

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (3 or more days onsite per week) based out of Minneapolis, MN and is considered safety-sensitive. 

\n

What you will do:

\n

\n
• Lead and manage the Control Systems Engineering team, provide guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.

\n
• Oversee the design, development, and implementation of Control systems for current and future Thermo King products, ensuring they meet technical specifications and regulatory requirements.

\n
• Architect and deliver Control systems detailed specifications, test definitions, feature and function documentation derived from system requirements decomposition that are modular and reusable across global products.

\n
• Work directly with stakeholders (e.g., Product Management, Controls functional teams, Platform Engineering Teams, etc.) to align on the intent and impact of requirements and implementation options to deliver the best experience for the end customer.

• Lead Controls work prioritization for each product line through product increment (PI) planning and feature level backlog management.

\n
• Responsible for Controls Quality of each product line meeting customer expectations through collaboration with other Engineering departments, detailed management of open risks, and resolution of Control systems technical issues.

• Working with the program management team and the broader organization to plan and execute projects, balancing needs of new product development (NPD) and sustaining.

\n
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

\n
• Delegating tasks to the team and resources outside the team including organizing, mentoring, and motivating to create an environment for success.

\n

\n

What you will bring: 

\n

\n
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

\n
• 10+ years’ experience in controls, electronics, systems engineering, or software engineering experience with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

\n
• Knowledge of Systems Engineering and development of Control Systems designs (e.g. elicitation of stakeholder needs, decomposition of requirements, development of controls features/functions, specifications, test definitions, etc..).

\n
• Understanding of Control system modeling and diagramming (state machines, use cases, UML/sysML, architectural decomposition, etc..).

\n
• Experience with Azure DevOps and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools; HPE, Polarion preferred.
\n
• Experience with the Agile Software development & Scrum processes.

\n
• Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.

\n
• Excellent project management skills, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

\n
• Technical problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to communicate to a variety of stakeholders.

\n
• Knowledge in refrigeration, thermodynamics, compressors, engines or power electronics is a plus.

\n
• Ability to travel up to 10% including international travel.

\n

\n

Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $120,000 – $175,000

\n

Total compensation for this role will include a incentive plan.

\n

Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
